Our breeding journey began on a vineyard in Glenburn, Victoria, surrounded by native bushland, open spaces and fresh country air. It was a place where our dogs could run freely through the vineyard, swim in the dam, roll in the grass, watch kangaroos wander by, and then curl up by the fire at the end of the day.

Today, we are based on a beautiful property in Healesville in the heart of the Yarra Valley, where we continue to raise our multigenerational Australian Labradoodles alongside our beloved donkeys and Boo the cat. While our location has changed, our philosophy has remained the same: every dog deserves a rich, fulfilling life filled with love, purpose, companionship, and joy.

We are experienced, responsible, trusted and ethical breeders who place the wellbeing of our dogs at the centre of everything we do. We are proud members of the Australian Labradoodle Association and are committed to upholding the Association’s Code of Ethics, rules and regulationsl, health testing and breed standards.

For us, breeding is not just about producing puppies. It is about carefully nurturing generations of healthy, well-adjusted companions who will enrich the lives of the families who welcome them. We value lifelong relationships with the dogs we breed and the people who love them. Our vineyard was a labour of love, tended by our own hands and hearts…and sometimes with our blood, sweat and tears. Our labradoodles are raised with the same simple principles. Nature has taught us many lessons: to be patient, to respect the natural development of every living thing, to act with integrity, and to learn something new everyday. We combine these values with evidence-based best practices, ongoing education and a commitment to continual improvement.

Our approach is inspired by the principles of the Slow Movement. We believe that good things take time. We allow our dogs to mature before entering our breeding programme, carefully consider each pairing, and place a strong emphasis on health, temperament, structure and genetic diversity. Our mothers are cherished family members first and breeding dogs second, with most having only two carefully planned litters and generous recovery time between them.

Every aspect of raising our puppies is intentional and unhurried. From the earliest days, we focus on nurturing confidence, resilience, curiosity and connection through thoughtful socialisation, enrichment and gentle guidance. Behind every litter are hours of planning, learning, reflection and care.
We are privileged to play a small part in each puppy’s story. Our goal is not simply to breed beautiful Australian Labradoodles, but to raise dogs who will bring companionship, comfort, laughter and unconditional love to the families who welcome them home.  And our hope is that every puppy we send out into the world is loved beyond measure.  To us they are never “just a dog or just a puppy”  You can trust us with the start of your dog’s journey- we will write the first chapter and then you will write your own story together with your fur companion.

From time to time people tell me, “Lighten up, it’s just a dog,” or, “That’s a lot of money for just a dog.” They don’t understand the distance traveled, the time spent or the costs involved for “just a dog.”

Some of my proudest moments have come about with “just a dog.”

Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by “just a dog,” and, in those days of darkness, the gentle touch of “just a dog” gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day.

Many hours have passed and my only company was “just a dog,” but I did not once feel slighted.

If you, too, think it’s “just a dog,” then you will probably understand phases like “just a friend,” “just a sunrise,” or “just a promise.”

“Just a dog” brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure unbridled joy.

“Just a dog” brings out the compassion and patience that makes me a better person.

Because of “just a dog” I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future.

So for me, and folks like me, it’s not “just a dog” but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past and the pure joy of the moment.

“Just a dog” brings out what’s good in me and diverts my thoughts away from myself and the worries of the day.

I hope that someday they can understand that it’s not “just a dog” but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being “just a human.”

So the next time you hear the phrase “just a dog.” just smile….because they “just don’t understand.”
